Chinese Institute of Buddhist Cultural Studies

The Chinese Institute of Buddhist Cultural Studies(CIBCS) was established in 1987. It is.a Buddhist cultural research institute under the Buddhist Association of China and a window for Buddhist cultural exchange and activities within and outside China.

The Chinese Institute of Buddhist Cultural Studies makes long and short term research plans by complying with the principal tenet of the Buddhist Association of China and cooperation with Chinese Buddhists whose guiding principle is to consolidate self- construction，develop Buddhist education and enhance the quality of the fourfold Buddhists as a whole. Its aim is to(1)unit Buddhist scholars within and outside the Buddhist circle to conduct studies on Buddhist history，teachings and present situation，(2)strengthen its relationship with higher educational institutions，Buddhist monasteries and colleges，Buddhist research organizations in the country，(3)consolidate its relationship with regional Buddhist organizations，Buddhist educational institutions and Buddhist scholars in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan，(4) strengthen its relationship with international Buddhist organizations，Buddhist educational institutions and Buddhist scholars，(5)actively contribute to the Buddhist cultural development，the unification of the motherland，the consolidation of the friendship and understanding between the nation and its people，the development and practice of Humanistic Buddhism，the development of the Chinese culture，and the construction of the socialist material and spiritual civilization through organizing Buddhist conferences，conducting various forms of Buddhist cultural activities，publishing the annual journal:Buddhist Studies，widening the Buddhist research and cultural exchange and improving the quality of Buddhist research as a whole.
