泰国赠送斯里兰卡金佛和舍利 感谢其将佛教传入泰国

据《Island》报道，近日，泰国赠送斯里兰卡Kotikawatte Nagarukkaramaya 寺一座精美金佛像，以感谢古斯里兰卡把佛教传入泰国，并肯定了Kotikawatte Nagarukkaramaya 寺对佛法弘扬的贡献。同时随赠的还有佛骨舍利。

这尊精美坐佛佛像高14英尺，宽7英尺，以宝石和半宝石装饰，是两国佛像不同雕塑风格的综合体现，非常珍贵。

据悉，Kote Nagarukkaramaya 寺定于2009年6月6日举行佛像的开光仪式，并于6月7日到9日，展出佛骨舍利。（编译：子规）

On a request made by Ven. Saddharma Keerthi Shree Badulle Mahanama Thera , Thailand donated Kotikawatte Nagarukkaramaya Temple a magnificent 14ft valuable Buddha Statue considering the contribution Nagarukkaramaya has been doing in spreading Buddhism.

The Buddha Statue was belonging to Wat Tarn-En Temple of Ayudhya, Thailand and Mahanayake Thera - Phrakrasamu Jirayu Athichanto. Thailands temple also donated several relics of the Buddha to Nagarukkaramaya.

The unveiling ceremony of the Golden Buddha Statue is scheduled to be held on June 6, Saturday.The exposition of relics will be from June 7-9.(Poson Poyaday and 2 days following Poson Poya day) at the Kotikawatte, Nagarukkaramaya Temple.

The magnificent golden Buddha statue with precious and semi precious stone decoration is particularly different to Sri Lankan Statues and Thailands temple mentioned that it is a mix of Ghandharan and Thai cultures of Buddha statue sculpture. Buddha Statue is 14ft in height and 7ft in width and it’s invaluable in terms of monetary value.

Buddha statue depicts the image of “subduing mara”. Prakrusamu Jirayu said Buddhism of Ceylon era of Sri Lanka is their role model of Buddhism in Thailand. “As Sri Lanka has helped Thai people to have a very happy and peaceful life, understanding depth of Buddhism, Wat Tar-En temple decided that this is a great opportunity for them to pay gratitude in return to Sri Lanka and they specifically selected Nagarukkaramaya understanding the service it renders to development of Buddhism,” he added.
